Pop in for pop-up foodie fun @ Good Food Month
With over 520 separate events it's hard to know where to start to tell readers about Good Food Month Sydney 2013. We can start with the fact that this famous foodie festival has reverted to its original name after a couple of years as Crave Sydney Food Festival. And we can tell you that it promises to be bigger and better than ever, with more than one million people expected to partake of the myriad of events all across Sydney and regional New South Wales throughout the month of October.

There is a huge range of one-off dining events, pop up restaurants, bars, and parties so here's the Weekend Notes take on the pick of the festival pop-up action.


The Bucket List Seafood Fest
If seafood's your thing then Bondi Pavilion is the place to get your fill from 25th to 27th October. Local sustainable fish suppliers will be selling their wares, along with cooking demonstrations and entertainment. Tasting plates will cost $10. Buy your tickets at the door.


Popup Ethical @ Cake Wines HQ

The folks at Cake Wines have a real flair for pop-up parties of distinction. For Good Food Month they'll be throwing open their doors for two evenings of food, music, art and ethical consumption. This will set you back $90 for a three-course meal, beer and wine, and a cocktail on arrival. This is on 10th and 11th October from 7pm to midnight.

The Next Generation Hunter Valley Project
Get up close and personal with some of your favourite Hunter Valley winemakers at the Vic, Enmore on 13th October from 11am to 5pm. You can pre-purchase a starter set of 6 tasting tokens and a wine glass. In fair dinkum Aussie fashion the wine will arrive in utes and the hospitality includes food and music. This one has free entry with tasting tokens from $4.

Nio by Rekorderlig
Orange-ginger, strawberry-lime and apple-blackcurrant are some of the tasty cider offerings from Rekorderlig. Nio by Rekorderlig will use those unique flavours to create a flavoursome menu of cocktails, canapes and a four-course dinner at Potts Point's Gazebo Wine Gardens from 1st to 9th October. Cost is $100 per person.

Early Bird Pop Up Breakfast at Sydney Markets
Why should pop-up foodie experiences be all about dinner? For the best in pop-up breakfasts head to Sydney Markets at Flemington where some of the freshest and best produce will be used to create a sit-down breakfast in the middle of all the markets action. This experience can be yours for $50 per person on 8th October from 7am.

Pop Up Dining - Laneway to Kitchen
Sshhh! Keep this one under your hat, it's a secret. Follow a treasure map to a secret Surry Hills location for champagne, canapes and a five-course dinner. All we can tell you for now is that it's on 17th October from 6.30pm to 11.30pm and that the cost is $70 per person.

The Barossa Experience @ The Argyle
You can have your festival food and drink on The Rocks when The Argyle Barosa Bar pops up at 12-18 Argyle Street, The Rocks from 15th to 20th October. Grazing plates with artisan foods will be matched with some of the Barossa's best wines, and entertainment to boot. Prices vary.

Eat Streets with Tom Kime at The Winery
Surry Hills Winery laneway will be the place to be on the weekend of 26th and 27th October. Hosted by chef, Tom Kime, the event will see the laneway come alive with a host of colourful food stalls and a street food vibe.

Peru on the Road - Street Food Adventures
City office workers will be the main beneficiaries of this sizzling South American pop-up at Wynyard on 14th and 15th October from 11.30am until 8pm. Chef, Alejandro Saravia, will present street food, art and music in the guise of a jarana, a Peruvian street party. Pop in for lunch or dinner with attitude.
