Anyone who has been wandering down Flinders Lane and caught sight of the Adelphi Hotel's swimming pool has done a double take. It is suspended above you and juts out over the laneway. It is glass bottomed so you can see swimmers doing their laps.

But goodness knows what they can see. Is it scary looking down at you, the other pedestrians and the traffic. Do they get vertigo?

I am sure I am not alone in wanting to have a swim there. Now you can.

This summer the Adelphi Hotel's Flinders Lane rooftop will host a pop up pool bar every Sunday.

Here is your chance to have a swim in this iconic pool but there is also the chance to drink some beautiful cocktails.

They are only letting in 70 guests at a time, so you may wish to arrive early to get your strip of astro-turf right by the pool.

The parties are on Sundays running through until March 29th and each session is on from 12pm to 7pm.

The themeis retro so apparently boat shoes and Birkenstocks won't look out of place.

They have also come up with heaps of retro cocktails sponsored by
Chandon; Midori; Jose Cuervo; and Melbourne-based organic drink company StrangeLove.

The bartenders, led by Carl Hamilton have spent months creating modern spins on retro cocktails so you can enjoy an 'Adelphi Wallbanger', 'Nice Melons', 'Midori Delusion', and 'No Sex on the Pool Deck'.

The cocktails will complement the backdrop of the Melbourne skyline. What could be nicer than a summer sunset, and a colourful cocktail on a rooftop bar in the city.

As you might expect there is a barbecue as well of gourmet sausages.

Pop up bar sessions start at 12pm on Sundays with last drinks called at 7pm.

If the forecast is for rain, check their Facebook as they won't be opening the roof top bar on those days.

Entry is free and drinks are from $5. Entry is via the Adelphi hotel lobby guest lift. No cash at the bar, only cards. You will need to bring your own towel or you can rent one for $5.

I checked this amazing event out today & was not disappointed by what it had to offer ! The swim over flinders land was amazing, the peeping into apartments & offices 8 floors up felt naughty & the fact that I, my husband & two kids were welcomed was even better. Next time I'd definetly do the experience with girlfriends so I could indulge in some cocktails & socialising . Thank you so much weekend notes for sharing this info : )))

I checked this out on Sunday, it was a cute little pop up bar next to a lap pool. It was almost 30 degrees but unfortunately the city building blocked the sunlight.

Soft drinks were $5. Cocktails were 4 for $50, or 4 spirits mixers for $30 and they had some cool bottles like Blood Orange and Chilli Juice.
