Picnics in the park are so old so let's head for a winery
Does sitting in the winter sun with a glass of wine and a picnic lunch sound good to you? What a great way to catch up with friends - and all for a good cause too. That's right : for a gold coin donation you can take your picnic rug, fold up chairs, and basket of nibblies to Pepper Tree Winery at 86 Halls Road, Pokolbin. You can even take the family dog as long as he is social and remains leashed!
All funds raised will go to Dog Rescue Newcastle which is a group of volunteers dedicated to the rescue of abandoned, neglected or abused companion animals. Dogs and cats are rescued from death row at local pounds and are then placed into foster care until they can be rehomed into a loving environment.
The picnic area will be set up adjacent to the Cellar Door and this looks like being a fun day. Commencing at 10:30am and finishing at 2:30pm the event will include training demonstrations for dogs and canine trick shows. To keep this a family friendly event there will also be competitions for the kids and dogs throughout the day.
You can take your own picnic food or order a hamper for two for $55.00. However, these must ordered in advance on 02-4909 7100. To compliment your lunch you can purchase wine by the glass though please remember to take cash as there will not be any ATM facilities available.
