Sunday drive anyone? If you feel like getting out into the country but you don't feel like hiking up to the mountains of Montville and Maleny, may I suggest a quiet outing past green pastures, illustrious country homes and the odd picnic spot on the side of the road?

A quiet spot to stop for a cuppa
Pomona is situated on the northern end of the Sunshine Coast, approx 20 minutes north of Noosa. I drove via the back road of Eumundi Range Road (this turn off is near the Eumundi Primary School). This will take you through part of Cooroy and 10 minutes further along you'll enter the picturesque town of Pomona. With the majestic Pomona Mountain in the background, this is one quaint little town. There is a sense of stepping back in time - from the rambling old pub

A great aussie icon - the Queenslander
The Pub sits proudly in the main street and opposite, the Bendigo Bank sharing its quaint quarters with a solicitor.

Where else but in Pomona?
There are the usual shops there, a local IGA, a newsagency, a organic health food co-op, as well as 3 decent sized op shops.

I also stumbled upon a community garden project where a group of volunteers plant natives and on-sell them cheaply. I bought two saplings for $1.00 each. You can't get better than that.

The market is on every 2nd and 4th Saturday and are great to stock up on fresh produce. It is located at the top of the main street. It is always a delight to forage at a country market I think! If nothing else, Pomona is a lovely little town to stroll around. You never know what your going to discover!
