Ishtarlia invited me to come along one evening to try the meditation class where she would take me into my "sacred space". Now, I'm one of those people who is 'always meaning' to meditate but I rarely get around to it. So, I decided I would give myself the gift of a whole hour of relaxation under the tender care of Ishtarlia.
The venue had a welcome calm about it when I arrived, with its subdued lighting and the smell of incense wafting slowly through the room. About 10 people showed up, beginners and advanced meditators alike, and as we settled into our seats or mats (I took the option of laying down), I was anticipating a special experience.
I wasn't disappointed. As I listened to Ishtarlia's pure harmonic voice I quickly began to float off. She had assured us that we would get to experience inner peace and she wasn't kidding. I was rather enjoying the time out from all the many things I have going on such as my "to do lists", "what's for dinner", all the usual things that beg one's attention. So there I was, laying on the mat, soaking up the peaceful tranquillity, when suddenly my left knee began to twitch, at the same time my nose started to itch and my back began to ache. Hmm.
Then my thoughts started vying for my attention 'oh it's raining again', 'I wonder if this will be finished on time?' and 'I hope I get to see the end of My Kitchen Rules'. Of course, this lifted me straight out of my peaceful place.
I had to give myself a few stern words. "Stop it Loni! Quit chatting mind! Stop trying to get my attention body! Relax will ya?"
I consciously tuned back into to the amazing operatic wholesome sound of Ishtarlia's voice and once again, began floating away somewhere very peaceful. Her crystal bowls resonated loudly within the hall as she delicately strummed them. This was one meditation I'm glad I attended and I'm hoping the benefits will flow onto the next few days. If nothing else, I'm building my 'calm bank' within.
