On Saturday 1 June 2019, Fabik (Old Woollen Mill) at Lobethal will be hosting a Pome Market dedicated to all things related to apples and pears. This event is part of the 2019 Pome Fest, a series of events happening from 31 May to 1 June to celebrate the end of the apple and pear harvest in the Adelaide Hills. The word "pome" is a Middle English term for fruit.
In addition to getting to know about the apple and pear industry, various activities will also be held during the day. The schedule is as follows:
11am-12pm: Cooking demonstration by Callum Hann
1pm-1.30pm: Country Women's Association Cooking Demonstration
2.15pm-2.45pm: Cider Masterclass, Pruning Workshop and Grafting Workshop
3pm- 3.30pm: Cider Masterclass, Pruning Workshop and Grafting Workshop
Children don't have to miss out on the fun either. They can make paper puppets with Tony Hannan from Arthogs from 10am to 1pm or join Deb Twining of Twining Arts in making paper apple blossom artwork throughout the day.
Entry into the event is free so do drop by if you want to join in the celebration. However, participation in the Cider Masterclass requires a booking which can be done here and the tickets cost $12 each.
