Polonia: The Polish Club Restaurant

If you would like to try something a little different, then head down to Milton to try lunch or dinner at the Polish Club.
On offer will be a range of distinctly Polish meals, as well as some that maybe a little similar to you. I suggest that you try the 'Pierogi': which are Polish dumplings made with meat, potato/cheese or cabbage/mushroom, 'Bigos': a cabbage based soup or 'Flaczki': tripe soup. My personal favourite are the Zapiekanka: which is similar to pizza. Whatever you choose, it will be served in full size portions that are inexpensive – for example the most expensive item on the menu is the Chicken Parmigiana @ $16.50. If in any doubt, just ask the staff who are friendly and approachable and who all speak English fluently.
Another must when visiting this restaurant is to try one or more of the excellent Polish beers that are on offer. You will have difficulty finding these beers elsewhere in Brisbane. Some of the beers are on the strong side, so please be aware of this when making arrangements for travelling home. My personal favourite is a beer called 'Zywiec' from Southern Poland and is a good clean lager. Also on offer are a range vodka brands that again you will have difficulty finding anywhere else outside Poland.
The decor is quite Spartan, but is a fairly good representation of the restaurants that I visited whilst living in Poland – with the emphasis based more on good quality food than fancy decor. The restaurant is child friendly.
Should your visit develop a taste for the Polish cuisine, then every second Friday the club hosts a Polish market, which offers a range of cooked meats/continental sausages for sale, in addition to Polish cakes, bread and other food items.
