Superb food, bird life, and heritage in a tranquil location
Polly's Country Kitchen in the Gold Coast Hinterland provides a welcome stop for hungry travellers on their way to or from the beautiful hikes and trails of Springbrook National Park. Polly's Country Kitchen is a licenced restaurant that visitors can simply drop into, or book in advance for events such as parties or weddings.

I recently visited Polly's Country Kitchen with my ever-hungry teenage son, whose eyes lit up when he saw the menu that included all-day breakfast options, lunch choices, desserts, and of course, milkshakes.

His eyes lit up even further when his gigantic burger arrived, complete with chips. Unusually, he sat back satisfied by the end of his meal.

Another of Polly's Country Kitchen's specialties is their Devonshire Tea which includes two scones, jam and cream, and a drink of your choice.

While my son worked his way through a strawberry milkshake, I sat back and enjoyed the well-deserved coffee I'd been craving since the end of our rainforest hike.

The seating area at Polly's Country Kitchen was delightful, overlooking beautiful grounds and a creek.

Nearby, a number of king parrots sat looking hopefully at our scones, but there were no crumbs to spare.

As a result of Covid-19, guests are asked to sign in before being seated as part of their CovidSafe plan. This barely took any time at all, and our food arrived with a minimal wait once we'd made our choice from their generous menu. We found Polly's Country Kitchen with its peaceful environment a lovely place to relax and refuel after our hike. Before we left, we explored some of the heritage photographs and artefacts displayed around the restaurant. Without a doubt, we will be back!

This is a wish I was there place Meg, to enjoy the freedom to go to such places instead of being locked down in Victoria. I have just baked a batch of scones, but they don't look like the one in your article. Maybe the next batch ... Neil.
