I recently discovered a fabulous way to unleash that beautiful, sexy person within that I would love to share with you. However, before I let you in on the secret, a word of warning – once you start, you won't be able to stop as this fun activity is rather addictive. Pole dancing that is. The art of pole dancing is generating quite a buzz these days and I wanted to see what the hype was about. Once thought of as a night time profession; pole dancing has evolved into a fun pastime for thousands of women – and some men – around the world.
Female empowerment has clearly reached new heights. And I can see why. Pole dancing isn't just a great way to flaunt your "fabulousity" it also teaches you strength, co-ordination and discipline. I remember walking into my first class and seeing the girls manoeuvre themselves effortlessly around the pole. The skill and athleticism required really surprised me. Eventually, I plucked up the courage and gave it a go, swirling ever so gracefully around the pole. Okay, so that might be a slight exaggeration. But what I lacked in coordination, my instructor made up for with enthusiasm and I was hooked.

In every class the experienced instructors will guide you through the choreography and adapt the steps to you and your fitness levels; so you will never be left feeling out of place or out of your depth. Pole courses are at night and generally go for five weeks so it is really convenient to attend regardless of your lifestyle. With life being so busy these days; finding that ever elusive "me" time can seem virtually impossible. So, if you have ever struggled to stay motivated to work out or become inspired in allowing yourself some much needed relaxation time; pole dancing can give you an outlet for both of these things. This dynamic pole dancing studio has a really friendly and relaxed environment whilst still being professional; and the passion displayed by the girls taking the classes is infectious.

The studio also offers a variety of other specialty classes from freestyle, pilates and cardio sessions to boutique, burlesque and private classes. If you think you might need to tone those once taut muscles of yours; the studio offers casual pilates classes at a great price. In fact, I have yet to find another pilates class in Brisbane that is such great value for money. You can pay as you go - $12.50 for all casual classes - or buy a pack of six at a reduced rate. The pilates classes are really effective in increasing your core strength and flexibility, which are must haves for any budding or experienced dancer. You are never pushed past your own fitness level but you definitely are expected to push the limits. I had so much fun trying out the different classes and finding out what worked best for me.
Class times vary from day to day so check out the timetable on their website. What I also really like about the studio is the limited number of people in each class. The small classes mean that you get lots of interaction with the instructor and other participants in a really informal environment.
This might take a little practice, but you'll get the hang of it.
Pole Fitness Australia also caters for private parties such as hens nights. This is a unique and unforgettable way to surprise all your girlfriends with a fun, cool and different night out. Better still the studio has themed performance nights so you get to show off your sexy new moves to all of your friends. After all, there is no point in keeping your new found confidence to yourself is there? But be warned, what you might come out with is a super sexy, super fit and incredibly happy version of yourself.
