Pointer Sisters - Australian Tour

Home > Adelaide > Music | Concerts
Event: -

Their songs have played in the soundtrack of our lives for over three decades. So you'll wanna 'Jump' at the chance to see The Pointer Sisters LIVE on stage during their Australian Tour in November.

I'm so excited. Are you?

The Pointer Sisters reached the height of their success in 1980, after their quartet split in to a trio. "He's So Shy" reached number three on the charts, and the following year, the sultry ballad "Slow Hand" reached number two. Two of my favourite songs by these ladies.

I've gotta say, I wish my two sisters and I all had musical ability. Then we could be our own Pointer Sisters or Hanson. My mum used to dress us in the same outfits, so that's a great start. But sadly, we can't even two step in time, so there goes that dream.

One of the biggest hits of The Pointer Sisters, and one of their signature songs would have to be their track "I'm So Excited". It was a 1982 Top Thirty hit, and when re-released in 1984, became a Top Ten hit.

The music video for the song features the sisters getting ready for a society soiree at a formal club. At the beginning of the video, the sisters are each getting ready for a night out, one putting on makeup, one getting dressed, and another in a bubble bath. At the club that night, the three women are the centre of attention, and by the end of the clip, the whole club are on their feet, jamming to the song.

I love this clip, because it's typically 80s.

In more recent times, the song was also featured in the film 'The Nutty Professor' with Eddie Murphy in the montage workout scene.

Another top single from 1984 was also 'Jump'. This song you might remember from the film 'Love Actually' when Hugh Grant, who plays the Prime Minister, dances to it.
