The annual Point Walter Concert, supported by Lotterywest, will feature live music, children's entertainment, and a grand fireworks finale to celebrate 50 years as a city!

It will be held on 4th March, 2018 at the Point Walter Foreshore, 3 Honour Avenue, Bicton, from 4.30 pm to 8.30 pm. Arrive early to get a good spot!

This year's line-up is headlined by Slim Jim and the Phatts.

Slim Jim are a local seven-piece band, known performing classic party hits from previous decades, right through to current Top 40 songs. Also appearing is the Big T Trio, who were an X-Factor finalist, and Rising Sun, a Cold Chisel tribute band.

The Wadumbah Dance Group is a family group with Uncle James T Webb and his sons and there are often other community dancers in this amazing act.

They have been entertaining locally, statewide and internationally for the past 20 years. They are a "theatrical, athletic, and dynamic" dance group who are amazing to watch and Uncle Jimmy is also incredibly skilled on the didjeridoo.

This is a FREE concert which has become a Labour Day long weekend tradition. It will be hosted by Nova 937 announcer, Ross Wallman.

Visitors can set themselves up on the grass banks of the Reserve for an evening of family entertainment and fireworks. With the City celebrating its 50th anniversary in 2018, Melville Mayor Russell Aubrey said this year's event would be the biggest yet.

Here is a preview of this year's concert:

Mayor Aubrey went on to say "It is always a wonderful sight to see people from all walks of life travel far and wide to enjoy our pinnacle summer event."

For the children, there will also be face painting and a bouncy castle. There will also be a range of pop up food trucks and a fireworks finale.

Parking:
There will be free parking at the Attadale Foreshore, with shuttle buses running from the parking area to the foreshore from 12 pm, and right through the event.

The parking area will be managed by volunteers from the Melville State Emergency Services Unit and buses with trailers will be going backwards and forwards from the event area.

Seating:
Seating is "picnic style" at this concert, so it is advisable to bring your own low back folding chair and/or a rug.

Food and drinks:
You can feel free to bring a picnic with nibbles or whatever, and refreshments, however, there will be some great food vendors on site!

Children's entertainment:
The fairies from the Freedom Fairies will be there right throughout the concert and they will be able to paint faces and create magical balloon animals for all the girls and boys.

There will also be fairy floss and popcorn.

Swimming:
Bring your bathers as the river is beautiful at this time of year!

Getting to the venue:
If you are going to come by public transport, visit the Transperth website to help you plan your journey.

If you want to drop anyone off, there will also be a drop-off and pick up point located at the end of the large boat ramp car park. The Melville SES volunteers will also be there to assist.

Road closures:
The small car park located closest to the Jetty will be closed for performer and emergency services parking.

Guests with an ACROD sticker are also permitted to park in this area.

Carroll Drive will also be closed to prevent any damage to the golf course.

The large boat ramp car park will remain open for concert guests as usual.

This event is not a dog-friendly event as the Point Walter Reserve and Foreshore is prohibited to dogs.
