One of the best locations in Australia will be host to
Craft Markets Australia stall holders for two very special market dates. The first of the two markets will be on the 24th of November and the 19th of January 2014 from 10am - 3pm and car parking is available onsite for $5.
The market offers a great opportunity to visit Portsea and the Point Nepean National Park in which the market is held.
For those who don't know, Portsea and Point Nepean are located at the far tip of the Mornington Peninsula and is about 90km from Melbourne's CBD. What makes this place special is that it's a historic military site which formed a part Australia's coastal defence from 1852 and also has large areas of untouched native vegetation within the base area and as for Portsea it's a prestigious holiday destination where holiday homes fetch millions of dollars.
Views from Point Nepean National Park are spectacular especially at the furthermost point where it looks across the bay to Queenscliff. Simply sit back, relax and watch the yachts, boats and container ships battle their way through the notorious rip ( perhaps the best vantage point to see the yachts compete in the
Melbourne to Devonport yacht race on Dec 27 ).
There are 3 different ways to discover Point Nepean and all the historic buildings, forts, tunnels, gun placements and so on. You can walk it,
cycle it or take the
shuttle bus . For more information and pictures on Fort Nepean have a read
Ian Gills article here .
As for the market you can expect the best stall holders selected from the famous Red Hill market along with Mornington and Flemington Race Course Markets to offer you the best in food, entertainment, fresh produce, hand made items, and many Christmas gift ideas.
The Portsea market is held only twice a year with the November market offering a great chance to buy festive food, decorations and gifts that are unique for people that are hard to buy for, where the January market will offer holiday makers on the Mornington Peninsula a chance to buy some of the peninsula's finest produce, wine, food, crafts, art, and lots more.
There is so much to enjoy on the
Mornington Peninsula you may want to make a weekend of it and visit the wineries, beaches, Peninsula Hot Springs, play golf, visit the Enchanted Maze, walk through Greens Bush National Park, the choices are endless. For more ideas of things to do in Portsea
