History detectives take on Point Nepean these Easter holidays with a series of FREE Junior Rangers programs offered to school children aged 6-12yrs.

Each outdoor activity invites children to discover Point Nepean's National Park at the tip of the Mornington Peninsula, rich in stories of a historical past.

The first activity "Who Am I?" which runs on Tuesday 8 & Tuesday 15, challenges children to match a series of stories to the people of the past now laid to rest in the Pioneer Cemetery at Point Nepean. This will involve searching headstones to find shipwreck victims, early settlers, lighthouse keepers' families and WW1 soldiers. A guessing game that encourages learning along the way.

The 'Remember Me' activity runs on Thursday 10 and
Friday 17 April, and explores the connection soldiers had with Point Nepean. Touching on Point Nepean's military past, kids will explore the history of soldiers and stories connected to the area.

The 'Pictures Past Puzzle' activity which runs on Tuesday 8, Thursday 10, Tuesday 15 and Thursday 17 April, explores Point Nepean's Quarantine Station. Junior Rangers will use images and maps to help put the pieces of the puzzle into place for those that lived, worked and sheltered in the Quarantine Station's many buildings.

Visitors are also welcome to explore the park on their own through a self guided discovery trail at the Forts or Quarantine Station. There are bikes available to hire to explore the park and the opportunity to take in the area's stunning coastline views at the top of the newly opened Monash Light Tower.

Before arriving, an audio tour of the park can be downloaded or iPods are available for hire from the Information Centre. The new, improved Pt Nepean Shuttle Bus runs daily during school holidays.
