If you're ever out driving around northern New South Wales I can thoroughly recommend including the little town of Mullumbimby on your tourist map. It's a quaint town which somehow seems to beautifully personify the trendy, rural and hippy cultures that make up the area.
Whilst you're wandering the myriad of different shops the town has to offer, why not treat yourself to lunch at the Poinciana Cafe? In perfect keeping with the town itself, the cafe is a wonderful mix of quirky and cool.
Poinciana Cafe
The main building is built around a lovely old mango tree, whilst the alfresco courtyard centres around the cafe's namesake Poinciana Tree.
Uptown Beef Burger
Good old fashioned country service abounds, with all the staff being friendly and the meals supersized.

My partner and I opted for the burgers. Mr Meatlover going for the Uptown Beef burger with its tasty homemade rissole and spicy tomato relish. I opted for the Satay Tofu Burger, also exceptionally tasty. All the salads were fresh and all burgers come on local organic Sol Bread rolls.

We also capped our burgers off nicely with a serve of crispy shoestring fries and a tasty little Byron Bay pale ale by the name of Stone and Wood.
Monster serve of fries!
Overall the Poinciana Cafe seems to have achieved the perfect combination of great service, tasty cafe favourites and a delightfully relaxed atmosphere. It also seems to be a popular local night spot and is holding regular live music events. As long as you're OK with sharing a meal with the local wildlife it's definitely worth a visit.
