The Anywhere Festival is back for 2019 and it's bigger and better than ever before. With events spread to all corners of the Sunshine Coast, audiences have a range of totally unique experiences to look forward to. The Anywhere Festival is a festival for any performance … anywhere, … anytime … between the 9 and 26 May 2019. But, who would have imagined a lighthouse … or two?

Climb the stairs of the lighthouse with Ben Burns , poet and host, on a side-by-side poetic wander, exploring the way these iconic beacons of hope symbolise departures and returns, and the talent of seeking the light. Caloundra has the unusual distinction of having not just one, but twin lighthouses that stand as sentinels, keeping a watchful eye over the ever-changing seascape, reminding us of a by-gone era, when one simple light was all that was required, for guidance.

Ben Burns will utilise sound and poetry to take his audience on a shared journey of illumination inside the distinctive Caloundra Lighthouses' space. With the use of sound and projected poetry, participants will discover hidden poems as well as interactive human lighthouse making at Poetry at the Lighthouse.

If you have ever left home seeking adventure, Poetry at the Lighthouse will celebrate your audacity; if you have ever left home and returned, feeling beaten, bruised and damaged, Poetry at the Lighthouse will help you to tell your story and encourage you to keep going. Coming and going … the ebbing and flowing of the ocean?

In addition to Poetry at the Lighthouse , audiences to the Anywhere Festival have the opportunity to enjoy a diversity of genres, from theatre, comedy, circus, dance and music. Audiences will be exposed to extraordinary experiences that haven't even been described yet, all occurring in the nooks and crannies of the Sunshine Coast - backyards, businesses, cafes, book stores, boxing rings, swimming pools and I hear tell, in a maze too. The Anywhere Festival happens anywhere BUT a theatre! But, should a theatre be necessary for a production, you can be sure it will be used in a totally different way to what you would expect.
