Funk is one of my favourite genres. Here in Brisbane, we are lucky to have a number of original funk bands that gig regularly. One of these bands is PocketLove, who I came across at the Brisbane Festival in 2011.

[ADVERT]Describing themselves as funk / soul / R&B, there's been a line-up change since I first came across them, and Luke is now the lead singer, and frontman. PocketLove are an energetic six-piece outfit who deftly work their way through original tunes as well as old favourite funk and soul tunes, compelling the crowd to dance along. I have a copy of their 5-track EP Reload and love each and every track. They are in the final stages of a new release, and I'm looking forward the launch gig.

PocketLove have a regular Friday night gig at Press Club, alternating with Boss Cats. You can like PocketLove on Facebook here and listen to their music here.
