If you're anything like me you wake up late on Sunday morning wondering just how much money you spent last night. You're also probably hungry and trying to avoid moving for fear of angering your empty stomach. on Lygon Street manages to combine great food with definite value for money and while it's not fancy, it serves up a pretty mean coffee and some great fresh juices alongside a basic and delightful breakfast menu.

Once you arrive you'll rarely have to wait for a table. As well as the inside area there's a front area boasting five tables and a courtyard with extra seating too. The breakfast menu runs all day, so even if you wake up at 2:30pm you're still going to make it in time.

There's a selection of sandwiches - even on weekends - so if your companion fancies the Eggs Benedict and you're on the rampage for a turkey focaccia you're both going to walk away satisfied. A standard breakfast for two including juice, coffee will come in at around $20 per person, which is pretty good for the neighbourhood.

Try poached next time you're hungry, your finances (and stomach) will thank you.
