Plucked-Strings Workshop - FREE Event

A fun and social music workshop in Melbourne

Concordia Mandolin & Guitar Ensemble warmly invites you to enjoy a FREE plucked-strings workshop on Wednesday 24th May 2017 at Malvern East Uniting Centre.

Bring along your instrument (mandolin, mandola, domra, guitar or ukelele) and enjoy an evening of ensemble playing, learning and fun.

From 7.30pm, you will learn more about ensemble playing, technique and music reading and even have the opportunity to play a different instrument!

Bowed-strings are also welcome. They blend well and violinists find they can easily adapt to the mandolin as the tuning and notes are the same.

Steel-string plectrum (pick) style guitarists can also join in. There are some chord charts available and you'll find the mandola is a comfortable fit as it has similar dimensions and the picking is the same technique.

Double bassists aren't left out either, as the music needs a mix of bow and pizz playing!

All participants should be able to read music (sorry guitarists, there's no TAB) but there will be help if you need it. Organisers promise it's really not as hard as you may think!

Best of all, it is FREE to participate in and after the workshop, a light supper will be served.

Bookings are essential, please contact Marion on 0409 860 251 to register your interest.
