Destination Pllek, a beach bar/restaurant located in Northern Amsterdam, just a short 20 minute free ferry ride from Centraal Station to NDSM Wharf and then an easy 5 minute walk.
In summer, make sure to pack your bathers as you will spend most of the time sunbathing while sipping cocktails and listening to live music, or if you're brave, taking a swim in the icy waters of the Ij. If you prefer an indoor environment, there are couches, bench style seating, and table seating across two floors with a welcoming and lively atmosphere.
Throughout the year, Pllek's program of entertainment includes live music, international films, yoga classes, art exhibitions, workshops, mini-festivals and much more.
When your appetite calls, peruse the extensive menu that is mostly organic and 75% vegetarian. The meat is from animals that have lived in the wild and the fish caught in the wild. All dishes are responsible and environmentally conscious.
Falafel plate @Pllek Amsterdam
Ethically sourced wild boar burger @Pllek
My choice, a delicious vegan and gluten free spread of homemade falafel, sweet and sour cabbage, baba ganoush, beetroot, pomegranate, and greens, served with sourdough (or gluten free bread on request). This is a taste sensation.
For those wanting to taste the local sustainably sourced meat, try the smoked wild boar burger, served with apricot chutney, lettuce, cheese, and pickled onions on a brioche bun. The meat is lean, juicy, with a gamey taste.
Pllek's kitchen is open 7 days a week from 9:30am to 10:00pm, and the bar until 1am and Friday/Saturday until 3am. The menu is seasonal and uses organic produce to create exciting and fresh dishes.
If you get bored with laying on sun-chairs, walk around the neighbourhood and enjoy street art and performances, art studios and artists at work, and the exclusive crane hotel. There is plenty to explore in this trendy growing neighbourhood.
