Playmobil is a toy that celebrates storytelling and imagination with an ever-growing collection of culturally diverse characters and global playsets. Inspired by the toys the story is created around Marla the explorer. She has a deep desire to see the world, go on an adventure and meet new people. However, fate has other plans in store for her. Laden with responsibilities, it knocks the stuffing out of her and dreams are set aside. The drudgery of each day takes her further away from the fun person she used to be.

Her little brother Charlie who adores her and remembers her as Marla the brave and adventurous, now finds Marla to be the ball and chain tethering him to a life of no fun at all, thus jeopardising their relationship as siblings. Defiantly, one fateful day he sneaks out of the house to meet up with friends for a fun night out. Upon discovering he has disappeared from home, Marla goes in search of her younger brother.

Magic intervenes and they are transported to the animated world of Playmobil. The siblings get separated and the crux of the story is Marla going in search of her lost sibling, traversing across visually stunning and iconic Playmobil sets. This journey is not just about searching for her brother, but herself too - to reconnect with the best part of herself; the fearless, passionate and optimistic explorer buried deep inside. Along the way she encounters a memorable cast of Playmobil characters in Del - a friendly food truck driver; Rex Dasher - a dashing secret agent; a modern fairy godmother, and the power-hungry Emperor Maximus.

For more than 45 years, children around the world have been delighted by the 7.5cm tall plastic figure toys known as Playmobil . This year they come to life in ON Animation Studio's beautifully crafted and imagined new movie. Directed by Disney veteran Lino DiSalvo, it features Anya Taylor-Joy as Marla, Gabriel Bateman as Charlie, Jim Gaffigan as Del (voice), Daniel Radcliffe as Rex Dasher (voice), Adam Lambert as Emperor Maixmus (voice) and Meghan Trainor as Fairy Godmother (voice) in the lead roles.

This is a story about Marla who learns to break free from her structured adult life, and to reconnect to her childhood dreams; enjoying the endless possibilities of her imagination. It also features several original songs written and produced by a team of Grammy and Academy Award-nominated talent.

A story with a lot of heart and an emotional core to it, it's also funny and entertaining at the same time. It's amazing that these little toys can take you on an emotional journey. With a simple storyline and universally relatable characters, not only will the kids enjoy sitting through this movie; it's possible that the adults won't mind at all either. With imagination, anything is possible.
