Maybe you're getting into the mood for a zombie film festival, going on a zombie walk, playing computer games or reading books about zombies, or maybe you just feel like it listening to some songs about the walking dead. If any of the above apply, this list is for you.

We Don't Want Zombies On the Lawn (Plants vs. Zombies theme)[/SECTION]
This saccharine boppy little tune comes from the computer game
Plants vs. Zombies. The game is silly and extremely addictive. You play a homeowner who plants various strange plants on your lawn which somehow defend your home against marauding zombies. Seriously, don't start playing it unless you have a few weeks to kill. I suppose it would be a good way to keep yourself busy while holed up hiding from zombies. Assuming you had electricity.

Parade of the Dead (Hilltop Hoods)[/SECTION]
This gruesome number comes from Aussie hip hop group The Hilltop Hoods' 2009 album
State of the Art. Sing along to the chorus about stealing the neighbour's Hummer, adding spikes to the wheels and chopping off "heads and shoulders, knees and toes..."

M1A1 (Gorillaz 2001)[/SECTION]
This song comes from the Gorillaz self-titled 2001 album. The eerie calls of "hello!" (reminiscent of the early scenes of
28 Days Later) are sampled from the 1985 George Romero film
Day of the Dead.

28 Days Later Soundtrack (2003)[/SECTION]
The soundtrack of the 2002 Danny Boyle film
28 Days Later is really an entire playlist in itself. Highlights include a beautiful version of
Ave Maria performed by Perri Alleyne and the creepy, slow building
In A House, In A Heartbeat.

Zombie (The Cranberries 1994)[/SECTION]
Admittedly this one isn't really about zombies at all but about an IRA bombing in 1993, but I have a vivid memory of several hundred people tunelessly shouting the lyrics in unison at the
2009 Brisbane Zombie Walk so I had to include it.

Re. Your Brains (Jonathan Coulton 2006)[/SECTION]
This hilarious song comes from Jonathan Coulton's 2006
Thing A Week Two album. In it a zombie addresses a living coworker who has barricaded himself indoors, urging him to let the zombies in to eat his brain. It's catchy.

Down With the Sickness (Disturbed 2008)[/SECTION]
The weird staccato "ooh wah wah wah" scream in this song sounds like an angry chimpanzee and puts me in mind of the rage-filled chimps in the movie
28 Days Later. A cheery lounge version of it by Richard Cheese appears in the 2004 remake of
Dawn of the Dead as the characters amuse themselves while trapped in the mall besieged by zombies.
Warning: this one has some explicit lyrics.

The Man Comes Around (Johnny Cash 2002)[/SECTION]
This song is the title track of American IV: The Man Comes Around, Johnny Cash's 87th album (2002). It references the Book of Revelations, containing lyrics about Judgement Day and the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse. Cash's gravelly, world weary voice is perfect for this song. It was also used in the 2004 remake of
Dawn of the Dead.
