Small children? Get out of the house

Are you a mum at home part-time or full-time with preschool kids? Like to join other mums for a cuppa and a chat while your kids have a play? Check out the link below for information about playgroups in your local area.

You'll be doing yourself and your kids a big favour. Mixing with other kids and their parents is not only enjoyable, but also helps build early social and emotional development. And it's not so bad for your own social and emotional development and wellbeing, either!

Playgroup is a great way to make connections in your local area and can lead to long lasting friendships and support for you and your kids. The research is clear - when kids early years go well, they are set up for better health and wellbeing through their whole lives.

Being part of a local playgroup has made all the difference when parenting does not go smoothly!

We've seen each other through all manner of trouble and strife - problems with feeding and sleeping; health issues; interesting behaviours; and troublesome husbands. We've also celebrated second pregnancies and births, landmark birthdays (both 1 year and 40 years!), new jobs, and new businesses.

On heading back to work, our kids have attended local daycare centres together and will likely also go to local schools together.

Most of all though, we like each other and have become good friends. I couldn't imagine being without our Playgroup.

Your Comment
Should this not read 'are you a parent' at home ... Your article discriminates against and likely intimidates fathers who choose to be the home parent of small children.
