I am an international student currently studying in Brisbane, and making the full use of my university life to travel and explore new and hidden places in Australia:) Always on the lookout for good food and quaint cafes as well!
Event: -
The twice a year 'Play4Free' event at UQ gym is back for the week of 29th July to 4th August! The free classes that are held over this week are all part of their regular courses that they run over the semester. Treat this week as a trial session to check out the different classes that UQ sport offers, and then decide if you want to sign up for more classes after that!

What you get:

FREE entry into UQ Sport Fitness Centre, Aquatic Centre, Tennis Centre, and Athletics Centre between 10:00am and 3:00pm

FREE classes: They have a huge range of different classes held every day of the week to suit everyone. If you are a fitness buff, why not try out body attack, or strength and conditioning under the supervision of UQ trainers who lead the classes. If you are looking at something to calm your tired mind, why not do a session of Yoga or Pilates? For those with two happy feet, get your swing on and join some of their dance classes that are available. Another popular one is Zumba, having tried this class myself, I must say its really fun! It was nicely paced for a beginner, and everyone just did their best (no one is there to judge your dancing or how good you look, so this is a great way to let it loose while getting some exercise out of it!)

There is a sign up link for the play4free classes on their website, however from experience, most classes are all based on a first come first serve basis on the actual day itself regardless of your online sign on, so be sure to go there early to get a spot. (Especially for the more popular courses).

There is free parking at UQ on weekends, during the weekdays it would all have to be paid parking. However UQ Sports and the swimming pool is just a 5mins walk away from the UQ ferry terminal.

All classes are an hour long unless otherwise stated. Go to their website for more details and timetable of classes.

Your Comment
Does it matter if you are not a UQ student? because when you sign up is asks what "option applies to you best" UQ student, alumni or staff.
