This was one of those random detours that you're glad you did!
On our way back to Melbourne after spending the weekend away in Apollo Bay, down the Great Ocean Road, we drove inland and discovered a hidden gem!

Platypi Chocolate is located in the small town of Forrest, well known for its Mountain Bike Park and now for its chocolate, thanks to owner and chocolatier Mandy Bishop. A modern architecturally designed building with a huge rusty feature wall and views to the bush from their outdoor eating area. There's even blankets to keep you warm.

Once inside, there are all sorts of chocolates you can purchase as gifts or to take home. This was chocolate heaven! We stopped to have a deconstructed hot chocolate to warm ourselves up! Mine came out in gorgeous blue pottery, a round ball filled with chocolate ganache and mint, a bite-size chocolate marshmallow and a hot cup of creany milk! My partner decided to go for the traditional hot chocolate. Both looked and tasted amazing.

We came home with some chocolate souvenirs to enjoy later! All the chocolates are handmade on site and if sweets aren't your thing, they offer savoury foods as well.
