Go Gourmet - Go Platters & More

This newly opened deli at Lilydale Market Place is a haven for foodies.

Think deli and you immediately think meats and small goods. One refrigerated display offered over thirty different salamis. Wild boar, duck and kangaroo are just three!

You can also get frankfurts, gourmet sausages, kabana and lots more.

Many frankfurts.

If cheese is your thing, you will be in cheese heaven. Dozens of varieties including French Goats, Esrom, Australian Parmesan, King Island Roaring Forties Blue and many others I had never heard of. They even cater for my conservative taste for cheddar.

Say cheese.

It is a well laid out shop with many stand-alone shelves containing a huge range of goodies. The first one encountered is full of pasta. I countered over 20 different varieties, many I have not heard of. Casaresta, Conchiglioni, Strozzapretti, and Casarejie, just to name four. You will also find pasta sauce to go with them.

Plenty of pasta.

I counted thirteen different varieties of vinegar. Sure beats white, brown or malt. Pure Styrian Pumpkin Seed Oil was a new product to me, but Mr. Google tells me it is a healthy alternative to similar products.

Many sauces are available. I noted Bearnaise, Malaysian Satay, Black Bean, Peri-peri and many many more. Apart from sauces, there were mustards and mayonnaises.

Jams, pickled onions, pickled walnuts and other more exotic conserves adorn the many shelves at Platters and More.

For coffee lovers, I counted ten different freshly roasted beans. Jazz, Columbian, Mexican and Mon Ami were just four. What enjoyment it would be trying them all.

Platters and More is a family-owned and run local business in Lilydale. Katie told me that they try to source their products locally as much as possible.

Family members Katie and brother Mitchell.

Katie also said that all their meats are sliced when ordered and that their customers liked that. She also remarked that during the COVID-19 lockdown, business has been good as many people were eating at home instead of eating out.

Many customers.

So far I've written about the "and more." What about the Platters? When I visited, Katie was busily making up an order for platters. The two I saw were a cheese platter and their deli platter.

The platters come in a crush proof cardboard box with a see through lid. After seeing the finished platters, I immediately thought, "What a fantastic gift they would make."

A large refrigerated unit houses ready to cook pizzas and pizza bases and a multitude of other goodies.

You can get the normal range of standard deli items, including my favourite - bacon, plus, literally hundreds of other items.

I pass by Platters and More almost every day and very rarely are there no customers in the shop.

Always busy.

Platters and More certainly lives up to its name!

It would be an understatement to say that place is jam packed and the platters look to be very generous and tasty.
