DoubleTree by Hilton Melbourne has pulled into Flinders Street and brought with it Platform 270.
With Chef Tony Moss at the helm, Platform 270 is said to be inspired by the local flavours and surrounding atmosphere of the Melbourne city laneways, diverse architecture and people.

Recently opened in the Melbourne CBD, Platform 270 takes up residence at DoubleTree by Hilton Flinders St.
What is immediately noticeable, is the atmosphere. Platform 270's interior is a little bit industrial mixed with what feels like a library with strategically placed shelving allowing for most tables within to have the most amount of privacy. The shelves, filled with wine bottles adds to the atmosphere, creating effectively, an industrial-style library of wine. And what's not to love about that? It's one of those few places left in Melbourne where you can sit and have a meal with a great conversation and not struggle to be heard.
It's smart but not too casual with its leather booths and timber floors, you'll also find an open kitchen (a very 'Melbourne' concept) and a wine list that certainly been well thought out.
On the menu you'll find items such as flame-grilled steaks, duck breast with beetroot and panko-crumbed goats curd, orange and herbs as well as a traditional lamb rump and a adventurous parmesan and Dijon mustard Crème Brulee .

We went the more traditional route and ordered the slow cooked rump of Victorian lamb with preserved lemon, mint, red onion, quinoa and salsa verde (pictured above) as well as the Victoriam eye fillet served with onion rings and horseradish butter (pictured below).

Platform 270 is located on the ground floor of DoubleTree by Hilton Melbourne – Flinders Street, which recently opened in December 2014 with a brand new look.
Great for a date night or a drink prior to a night out in the city, as well as a great spot for those travelling on business to grab a bite while their in town. Platform 270 offers friendly service and the location (just a stone's thrown from Flinders St Station) is central to everything.
