Plate of the Day, more commonly known as POD, is an old cottage which has been refitted to become a coffee shop. It still has a warm homely feel about it with two open fires, comfy couches, separate rooms to choose from and crocheted rugs outside to keep you snug. POD is a great little place to start your tour of Barossa Valley.

Located on 58 Murray Street, Tanunda, this little quirky cafe is hard to miss. Inside, two open fires warm up the atmosphere and lovely smells come from the kitchen, opening your appetite before you even look at the menu. All the rooms have been carefully decorated with vintage cups, recycled furniture and old school tins and toys.

POD offers lots of sitting configurations; a big table next to the window for families and large groups, couches for a more intimate gathering or cafe tables for a casual breakfast or quick snack.

The menu is diverse and caters for gluten free, big appetites, vegetarians and of course, coffee lovers. There is something very charming in drinking a cup of freshly brewed coffee next to an open fire. They also have a display full of tempting sweets and cakes.

So next time you are in Barossa and can't shake off the cold, head to POD - the food, atmosphere and tunes will surely warm not only your body but your soul!
