Event:
Experience Adelaide Botanic Garden after dark
Renowned local visual artists, Laura Wills and Louise Flaherty, have created a series of new artworks in response to their research at the South Australian Seed Conservation Centre for The Guildhouse Collections Project. The Collections Project is a collaboration between @Guildhouse and South Australian institutions where artists are given the opportunity to research rich collections and share their findings in a unique, artistic way.

Their exquisite, botanically-themed works investigate the personal and environmental effects of losing vulnerable flora from the South Australian landscape. At this Botanica Lumina event, start your journey by listening to their new and mesmerising sound work - made with Belinda Gehlert and Naomi Keyte - on your own device and headphones.

Following that, take part in a short clay paint workshop and make your own mark on an evolving, ephemeral artwork. This is a chance to be inspired by the sounds, smells and sights of the nighttime garden that surrounds you.

To conclude the event, ticket holders will move inside the historical and beautiful Santos Museum of Economic Botany to hear from artists Laura and Louise in an artists' talk. You will learn how their time at Adelaide Botanic Garden influenced the work.

While in the museum, you will have the opportunity to explore the art and discover the botanical curiosities held within. This event is part of the Botanica Lumina program of evening activities in Adelaide Botanic Garden that run through the cooler months. The workshop will take place on Thursday 16 September 2021 - 6:00 pm – 7:30pm at the Schomburgk Pavilion in the Adelaide Botanic Garden. Enter via the Friends' Gate on Plane Tree Drive, Adelaide, SA
