2020 is the International Year of Plant Health . The Commission on Phytosanitary Measures proposed the move in 2015, as a way to 'raise awareness of the importance and impacts of plant health in addressing issues of global importance, including hunger, poverty, threats to the environment and economic development.'

Plant health is more relevant than ever in 2020, with veganism and plant-based diets becoming more and more mainstream. If you're considering making the switch, you can learn more about the movement at a Plant-Based Eating Nutrition and Meal Planning workshop , hosted by the Human Herbivore.

The Human Herbivore is a vegan consultancy organisation run by accredited dietitians. The day-long workshop will cover vegan nutrition for all ages, with a morning session (9am - 12pm) covering adults and an afternoon session (1pm - 4pm) covering children. The sessions use the latest vegan nutrition research to educate participants about the plant food groups, how to get essential nutrients from plants, and meal planning.

The Plant-Based Nutrition and Meal Planning Workshop will run on Saturday, 8 February at Bulimba Library (219 Oxford Street). The cost is $50 for the full day, or $30 for the morning or afternoon session.
