Is your child horse-mad? If they are, here are 5 places in Perth that you can take them to get their horsy fix during the school holidays.

Salisa Horse Riding - Wanneroo

Just 15 minutes from Joondalup, Salisa Horse Riding caters exclusively for beginner children. All lessons are on lead so children learn the basics of riding while in a controlled and safe environment.

Their school holiday program is always popular and involves pony rides for the under 6s, which are in walk only. The Little Riders sessions are suitable for ages 4 and up and includes having a go at trotting.

They also offer day camps which run for 6 hours and involve a riding lesson and lots of other horsy activities. Ponies and horses are lovely and calm, and the instructors are very welcoming and friendly.

Centura Riding School - Wanneroo

Also in Wanneroo is the long-established Centura Riding School. It is an AHRC accredited riding school offering horse riding lessons for all levels of riding ability.

Their school holiday riding program runs for 2 weeks in January 2020 and has a large range of options for all levels of ability.

For adults, there is even a bubbles and bridles session which includes an hour of riding followed by cheese and wine.

Zia Park - Perth Hills

Set in the Perth Hills, Zia Park offers a huge range of school holiday riding options. There is a beginner school holiday program, suitable for beginners and novice level riders.

The beginner sessions are from 8 AM - 1 PM each day. Unmounted activities include instruction in safety with horses, stable management, care of horses and equipment and general equestrian knowledge. The riders will work on improving balance and independence at rising trot and learn to ride for short stretches at sitting trot and canter on and off the lunge.

Group riding sessions may include riding a preparatory level dressage test, using pole exercises to improve control of line and pace, practicing mounted team games at walk and trot, and going on trail rides. All activities are designed to enhance the riders' confidence and skills while having a safe and enjoyable experience. Pupils will ride at least twice daily.

They also have an intermediate to advanced school holiday riding program.

This program is suitable for Intermediate (confident to canter in 2 and 3 point position, some experience jumping) and Experienced riders. Riders will have at least 2 mounted lessons per day, theory sessions cover rules of competition, horse care and stable management.

Royal Park Riding Academy - Swan Valley

Royal Park Riding Academy offers horse riding lessons, vaulting lessons, camps, clinics and host Pilates for Riders weekly.

Their ponies are quiet, happy, well-loved and educated. Class sizes are small and tailored to suit the riders' abilities. Their coaches are experienced, caring and empathetic.

They cater for all riding levels, from complete beginners to advanced.

Near Forrestdale is where you will find Perth Horse Riding Centre.

They run Pony Fun Days which are suitable for ages 2-12. Your Child will be able to ride, brush, plait, pamper, cuddle, feed, play fun pony games & many more fun & exciting activities. The day is very suitable for everyone including total beginners. You can book a full day, or just a morning or afternoon session.

For older children, they offer a Teen Day, which includes riding, handling, grooming, games and more, with all food and drinks included on the day.
