Having spent the last few years living abroad I now wish to rediscover my home city of Sydney to keep that 'travelling feeling' and share my findings with those that might want a bit of inspiration.

High quality food, rock bottom prices
Forget feeling poor on a Sunday due to lashing out on a Saturday. These deals will see you making it to Monday without getting your account ledger into the red.

East

If you crave carbs on a Sunday to shake the rest of the Saturday night cobwebs away Hugo's Lounge Sunday special is the pick of the litter. All day; until 11:59pm the warm and friendly staff are serving up $5 pizzas, cocktails and drinks. Considering we should all be in bed well ahead of that with work on the horizon you don't need to worry about being a couple of minutes late to get your Sunday savings special.

For the boys (and girls) who can't tear themselves away from a humble burger; East-side favourite Bucklers Canteen serves up burgers & chips for $10 on a Sunday. Open 12pm-12am this relaxed venue on the corner of Beach Road and Campbell Parade is the perfect place to chow down whilst powering up to face the week ahead.

If you want to be amazed and dazzled on a Sunday but don't want to pay out the big bucks (weekend entertainment nearly always costing top dollar) you'll delight in an evening at the Victoria Room in Darlinghurst. From 6.30pm every Sunday 6 different performance artists will delight and astound you. Regular acts include swing ensembles, aerial artists, magicians and dancers and all without a cover charge. Pay for what you eat/drink and enjoy a free live show! Perfect for anyone still suffering the effects of the night wherein conversation is simply too much effort.

North

For anyone that's feeling 'typically English' or nostalgically traditional, the Buena Vista Hotel in Mosman will strike all the right chords serving up their $15 Sunday Roast from midday; just like your Mama used to. If you fancy something a bit lighter you can also pick up a 300g rump steak or chicken breast with salad bar for only $7 to cook to your liking between 5 & 8pm. Why not bring the whole family and tuck in without the hassle of cooking and cleaning up at home. They even have free coloring books for the kids to keep them entertained and make it a truly perfect Sunday meal out.

Parents don't need to despair about the expense of the weekend when Sundays roll around. If you're headed to the North Shore with kids in tow on a Sunday there's nowhere more affordable than the Freeway Hotel in Artarmon when kids eat for free. One or two rugrats and anywhere else will seem extortionate in comparison. Pool is on offer for only one dollar so you can keep both yourself and the little ones entertained whilst you wait for your meals to come.

West

Considered part of the 'inner west', The Roxbury Hotel in Glebe will have them arriving from all over on Sundays when the kitchen pumps out their Sunday Shanks and Squires deal. The kitchen serves up Lamb shanks, the bar serves up schooners of James Squires and all for $15. If your head is weary don't despair, you can swap out the Squires for a soft-drink but the juicy meat of the shank will have you regretting eating anything else that afternoon! Served between 12 & 9pm.

Fancy free ping pong with cheap sliders and ciders? The Workers at Balmain fits the bill in all categories. Not only do they have several ping pong tables which are free on Sundays (allowing you a bit of exercise to get the blood pumping) but sliders and ciders are priced at an extremely miniscule $4 a pop. With prices these low you could play, eat and drink all day without breaking the bank. Perfect for a low-key revival session or get-together with friends.

City

If the centre of the city is your rendezvous point then certainly one of the cheapest deals around is Bar 333 on George Street's fish and chips deal. At only $8 you can pretend summer's still here whilst you chow down on a nice piece of fish and some fried carbohydrate accompaniment in this multi-level venue that hosts daily deals every night of the week. If you can't pull your man away from Sunday sports never fear; one of the areas hosts a fully blown sports bar that they can glue their eyes to the screen whilst you glue yours to the cocktail menu.

You took some really good photos of those venues. I think the pizza would be on the top of my list!
