So much to do....so little time...

Great value family dining

Pizzeria Locale is situated in the Village Plaza at Shepherds Bay. Previously run long term by the same family, it has recently come under new management. I see their billboards in the shopping centre all the time advertising their specials nights, but until recently, hadn't been in to try as I had read some old negative reviews online. On the night we tried it out, it was $14 Pizza Night. So we ordered our two favourite pizzas and a Salt and Pepper Squid to share.

The Salt and Pepper Squid were nice, the sauce was tasty, the salad fresh and the serving generous (I neglected to take a picture before we started eating, it initially looked much better).

The Vegetarian Pizza looked great and all ingredients tasted fresh, however, as a whole, it lacked a little in taste (for my liking). Nothing some salt and chilli oil didn't fix, although for the kids, it would have been perfect as is. The Prosciutto and Rocket was much tastier.

As we were tucking into our pizzas, a plate of succulent looking ribs passed us by. I made a mental note to come back to try them out as they also have a "Ribs Night" special, although it is always a part of their menu.

At night the outdoor area has heat lamps and music playing

They have a good sized outdoor courtyard area with heat lamps, soft lighting and music which creates a nice ambience. It was very windy the night we were there so we were unable to sit outside. Inside the atmosphere is warm and the walls adorned with historic pictures of the Meadowbank foreshore, including one I saw that dates back to the early 1920's.

Historical photos of the area.

The service was very good. Despite being busy, the one waiter kept his cool and never compromised the service. The owner was also helping out.

What I will say is, for two 13" pizzas, one salt and pepper squid and four alcoholic drinks for under $70, it strikes me as a great family place that wont break the budget while also delivering decent food. My experience was not negative and their promotional nights offer really good value with significant discounts off the menu prices. Tuesday is Pasta Night, Wednesday is Ribs Night and Thursday is Pizza Night. They also offer a take away service.
