Authentic Italian pizza- quite possibly Sydney's best pizza
It was raining on Sunday, so I suggested to Partner & Son that instead of going to a shopping centre (where everyone else seems to go on a rainy day), we go to Bankstown Sports Club where 'that nice pizza place is'. So, off to Pizzeria Bellucci at Bankstown Sports Club we went.
Every time we've been to Pizzeria Bellucci it's been busy. This Sunday was no exception: there was at least one birthday party and two 'First Holy Communions' being celebrated, evidently by families of Italian origin- a great recommendation for the place as you'd think that Italians know their pizzerias- but we managed to get a table with no problems. We browsed the menu, decided on two meat-focused pizzas for the boys, and Partner went off to the counter to order and pay for our pizzas.
One of the things that so enthrals me with this place is the atmosphere. It really looks and feels as though you're sitting in an Italian piazza, the detail even including clothes drying on an overhead balcony (at the moment they're appropriately Christmas-themed). There is certainly plenty to entertain the eye while you're awaiting your pizza.
A couple strolling through the piazza (remember: it is raining outside!)
Our pizzas were delivered to our table within 15 minutes. They were deliciously hot, cheesy, meaty, and spicy. In a word: gorgeous (as usual). The bases are beautifully thin and the toppings are perfect- just the right amount. My partner, who has eaten pizza in Italy and who claims that no-one else in the world can make a pizza like an Italian, swears that they are "proper Italian pizzas". Certainly, the popularity of the pizzeria testifies to the authenticity of the food and the experience as a whole. At around $20.00 a pizza, the pizzeria is excellent value.
Meatlovers pizza: a beautifully thin base and the perfect topping
I would love to have been able to indulge in one of the wondrous offerings from the pasticceria or from the gelataria but my stomach honestly could not accommodate it. One day soon I'll go back...just for dessert!
The pasticceria- delicious-looking, totally indulgent, Italian sweets.
The gelateria: try some of this smooth, silky, creamy Italian dessert
We go here often and love the pizza. The base is nice and thin and there is a perfect amount of topping. The place does gets really busy so get here early if you are going on a Saturday night. The Piazza is beautiful and authentic looking and it is an enclosed building so you are not outside.
