I like to participate in life rather than be a spectator. Music, dancing, theatre, travelling, food, cycling and walking are some of my passions. Writing is an enjoyable pastime that allows me to share my experiences.
A great casual dining experience can be had at PizzAperta. The pizzas are deliciously authentic with a beautiful crust, tasty toppings and not too much cheese. They use stoneground flour and leaven the dough for a minimum of 24 hours to maximise the taste and digestibility. The menu is divided into Traditional & Classic, Seasonal & New Wave, Roman Foccacia Style and Salads & Sides. The pizzas range in price from $14 to $27 depending on the toppings.
Even on a cold Winter's evening in Sydney, it was relaxing to sit outside drinking a glass of red win whilst sharing a Sicilian pizza and a peppery rocket and parmesan salad. The open air piazza has the feel of an Italian pizzeria and the proximity to The Star and the Lyric Theatre make it a great choice for pre-theatre dining. The location also has great views of water and people passing by.
The team at PizzAperta offer daily 'Happy Hour' drink deals, Pre Theatre dining for $30 (choice of pizza, salad and a drink) and $12 espresso martinis 4pm-6pm Tuesday to Sunday. You order and pay at the bar and are given a buzzer to collect your food which is served in takeaway containers and the drinks are served in plastic. They get very busy especially when a show is on but we have always found the staff to be friendly and helpful.
Antipasti, olives and arancini are also on the menu as well as a choice of desserts. Tiramisu and panna cotta are available for $7.50 each or $18 for a Nutella pizza to have with an Italian espresso if you don't have to rush off to a show
