One of the quirkier holidays, International Talk Like a Pirate Day is coming up on September 19. You can party like a pirate too, at the fun . Inner city pub The Bull and Bear will be overrun with friendly swashbucklers demonstrating their best pirate accents.



Dress up in your finest plundered jewels, and head to the family friendly market from 1 to 5pm. Market stalls will be selling pirate-themed wares. Think artisan crafts, steampunk goodies and goblets, as well as pirate costumery to help you pull together a last-minute outfit.

By evening, adults can stay on for that favourite pirate pastime: drinking. Pirates are also known to be partial to a gamble, so an assortment of games including arcade machines will be available. Pirate themed classes will also be included in the evening's festivities, so you will have the chance to sharpen your swordfighting skills.

Visit the market during the day for $5, or stay for the night-time festivities with a $25 day pass. The day pass also includes other goodies such as free spots in classes, a pirate themed magnet, and a raffle ticket for the prize draw. Under fifteens get free entry to the market, but need to be accompanied by an adult.
