Celebrating the onset of balmy evenings, warmer weather, and sunny skies, Marion Hotel has joined forces with Adelaide craft brewery Pirate Life Brewing to offer their customers with an exciting new option of the newest, freshest beer on tap - the Pomegranate Fruit Sour.
A flavour that was co-created by Peter Catlin (Hurley Hotel Group's On Premise Manager) and Matt Newman (Pirate Life Brewing's National Sales Manager), the Pomegranate Fruit Sour hopes to tingle the tastebuds with its unexpected yet delicious flavours, while still maintaining its ability to be approachable and an easy-drinking kind of beer. While the beer may infuse a bit of precision to its flavour by being sour on the back palate, there's a subtle fruity twist to it that makes it thoroughly enjoyable to have, thanks to the lesser known (yet highly underrated) delicate flavours of the Pomegranate.
We had a desire to bring something a bit different to our customers that they couldn't get anywhere else; a nod to the new space and emerging trends. Pirate Life produces great beer, has the ability to produce a small batch craft brew and recognized a gap in their range for lower alcohol, flavour-some beers that get people started. Peter Catlin.
To celebrate the collaboration, local artist Mike Sander will be painting a canvas piece, which will then be put to auction. The money raised through this initiative will then be donated to Youth Opportunities, which is a South Australian not-for-profit organisation that provides young people with wellbeing and life skills through learning programs.
In addition to Sander's efforts of creating a live masterpiece, customers will also be able to check out the extensive Marion Hotel refurbishments, including an exclusive Pirate Life mural in the Hurley Cellars, which has been created by Melbourne artist Mike Makatron. Measuring to 24 metres long and almost four metres high, the mural that was painted in just four days meets the open-ended brief of bringing the Marion Hotel / Pirate Life brand to life through rich textures and earthy tones that offer hints of nature. By incorporating the jungle design to feature South Australian heritage icon 'the frog cake' and South Australia's rare colony of glow in the dark mushrooms, the life-size mural hopes to inject an inviting and fun vibe into the Hurley Cellars.
The Pirate Life Brewing x Marion Hotel collaboration drink Pomegranate Fruit Sour will be available at the Marion Hotel in Mitchell Park from September 15 (Sunday) onwards. It will kick off the Sunday session from 1pm, where customers can expect to enjoy cold beer, live music, free tastings (from 1pm-2pm), Pirate Life tinny and pint specials, and giveaways.
