Mother's Day is a chance to give back to our mums and the mother of everyone - Mother Nature. Like our own mums, Mother Earth clothes and feeds her children with infinite kindness and patience (most of the time). Her nurturing spirit is unsurpassed and we should consider ourselves lucky to witness every day how beautiful she is.
Here is how you can show your gratitude to both mothers and honour them this Mother's Day. At the Pink Fig Mother's Day Markets, you can buy an environmentally friendly pressie for your mum from a local small business. Sustainability is their buzzword and it's a win-win-win situation: for your mum who gets a gorgeous handmade or home-grown gift: for the locals you support and of course, for Mother Nature herself and planet Earth. And your pocket will be thankful too. So if you love nature and your mum, let's truly celebrate all mothers sustainably.
Please note that the market is especially for buying unique gifts for Mother's Day that mums, nannas and other women in your life will treasure; it is not on Mother's Day. It is actually on Sunday, 29th April (that is, two weeks before Mother's Day which is on Sunday 13th May). It is being held in the spacious grounds of the Darling Downs Christian School from 12 noon to 5 pm. The Pink Fig Mother's Day Markets are a fundraiser run by Darling Downs Christian School's P&F Association and entry is by gold coin donation. For more information, click here.
Everything for sale at these markets has to be original, home-made, good value and high quality, so you will find incredible creations you won't find anywhere else. You're sure to pick up something special for your mum or a little something for yourself, from a wide-range of handcrafted items direct from local designers, both emerging and established artisans, There will be an outdoor eating area for local gourmet food (like Gecko Grove Fine Foods, The Baker's Duck and Prudence's Pantry) and coffee vans as well as over 50 boutique stall holders. Enjoy great shopping while listening to live music under the beautiful fig tree. Children have been catered for too: there'll be fun for all the family with an animal nursery, pony rides, free pot-a-plant, jumping castle and lots of other fun and old-fashioned games for kids.
