The Pineapple Hotel in Kangaroo Point is a little slice of Brisbane history and a must if you are visiting Queensland.

Known as the piney to its friends, it is one of Queensland's little gems, the iconic building, which was developed by the renowned industry architect James Forbes, is split into four separate areas so its like four different venues in one. The four corners make it perfect for an intimate lunch or evening meal, a large group function, a night out with friends, a sports fan hub, a family meal or business meeting.

Offering a mix of fantastic food, very friendly service and a great evening atmosphere - the piney is one of the most oldest and established pubs in Brisbane.

Located minutes from the Brisbane CBD, and a short walk from the famous "Gabba" sporting ground and Woolloongabba bus station - it is surrounded by hotels and restaurants making Kangaroo Point an ideal place to stay.

The Pineapple describes itself as "a pure pub experience" and thay are spot on with that. It offers numerous bars, a premium wine store, excellent function facilities, and the Steakhouse and Park Bar have won many deserving awards.

It prides itself on being a friendly family owned and operated hotel which combines the charm of an old style pub with all the modern facilities you could wish for.

Established in 1864, it is the fifth oldest pub in Queensland - its name, which is an odd choice to some, I have read "stems from the pineapple plantations that dotted the Kangaroo Point area in the early 1900s".

It has had many restorations over the years to update and enhance, however the iconic exterior has remained unspoilt and true to its original form. It has a new glasshouse beer garden, and children's playground all overlooking 'Pineapple Park'.

Food and drink wise there are loads of excellent offers including the $11 lunch menu from Monday to Sunday 12-3pm, the $10 pizza menu in the Park Bar Wednesday to Friday 5-9pm, the $10 meal deals Thursday 5-9pm where you can get Rump Steak, Chips and Mushroom Sauce, plus the 2-4-1 Meal Deal available in the 5th Quarter and Sports Bar on Tuesday and Thursdays lunch 12-3pm and dinner 6-9pm.

I went on Sunday with a large group and we all had food, which was pretty good for the price. There were pizzas, steak sandwich and chips and Thai beef salad which all got good reviews - the steak sandwich getting the most praise. Drinks prices are very reasonable and they have lots of drink offers and a happy hour too, so you know that a night out at The Piney wont break the bank.

They also have lots of events on - they show all the live sport you could wish to see plus have loads of kids events called "The Piney Kids" such as face painting coming up on 13 and 14th October and trivia nights. They also hold large functions and weddings even.

Absolutely worth a visit - great food, great service and a bit of Brissy history.

Check them out on Facebook too to keep up with all the latest offers and events.
