Pine Tree Motel
En route to Darwin, we decided to stop in Katherine and stay the night at Pine Tree Motel
. We were allocated a room number, together with codes for the gated carpark and key safe, before our arrival to ensure a smooth DIY check-in. There is a number to call if you encounter any issues, however, I did not find the contact person very friendly at all.
Our budget twin room was good value for money. Both beds were comfortable enough and we had a restful sleep. The outdoor pool proved to be rather popular among guests. Many were relaxing with a drink in hand from the onsite bar. Pizzas were being served too from 5pm. A buffet breakfast is available in the morning if so required.
As the motel is centrally located, walking into town would be the recommendation. It took us less than ten minutes. You'll find an exit button for pedestrians on the pool fence post by the entry gate. We mustn't have been very observant as a kind soul had to point the button out to us.
Parking is subject to availability, so I'd suggest arriving as early as possible. You can check in from 2pm. However, if you're not able to get there until later in the day, then simply park outside on the grass area and lock your car (leaving no valuables in sight, of course). In fact, ensuring that your car is locked wherever you park is a good idea anyway. The gates and fences did give me a sense of security though.
The motel can be found at 3 Third Street in Katherine. Standard and deluxe accommodation options are also available in addition to the budget room we booked. For more information, please head to their website pinetreemotel.com.au
