A rotating library of exhibits, Olde Time recreations and hands on learning experiences make Pine Rivers Heritage Museum an exciting and inexpensive day out for adults and children.

Pine Rivers Heritage Museum (Dayboro Road, Whiteside) is a historic museum located in the Old Petrie Town, a replica pioneer village. The animated theatrette provides visitors with information about the history of the local area, while six permanent displays explore Australian history and geography:

Object theatre uses moving objects, video sound and light to show visitors a timeline of the area from the first European settlement in the 1840's until today;

Mountains to mangroves explores the natural habitat of the area;

Explorers focuses on adventuring trio Richard Parsons, John Finnegan and Thomas Pamphlet, who helped John Oxley discover the Pine and Brisbane Rivers;

The Migrant Experience examines the lives of migrants and the culture and traditions they brought to Australia;

Supply the Building Trade shows how the harvesting of building materials helped to drive the districts growth; and

Yebri House is a replicated farmer's workers cottage from the late 1880's.

The museum also hosts a range of different temporary displays from museums and archives around Australia.

The Pine Rivers Heritage Museum is open from Wednesday until Sunday. Opening hours differ according to the time of year, so check the website for more information. Entry to the museum is free.
