One of the most anticipated events in the Northern Territory, the Pine Creek Goldrush Festival, is almost here. Pine Creek is little town 2.5 hours drive down south from Darwin. This fun family event will be held from the 17th until 19th of June 2016. Last year, the Goldrush Festival was a hit with a record number of visitors and participants.
Pine Creek Goldrush Festival will start with an Art Exhibition and Prize Night at 6pm on Station Master House, Railway Precinct on Friday the 17th of June 2016. Nibbles and drinks will be provided by the event organiser, but BYO is also permitted.
Art competition for children category
Saturday the 18th of June will be filled with fun activities for everyone to enjoy. Most people will be interested to participate in the Gold Panning Championship. You can keep the gold that you find. The Gold Panning Championship is for everyone, it even has a category for children. A practice session will commence at 9am and the first heat will start at 10am.

If you don't want to get dirty, you can buy your stake, then select your lucky coordinates to find a nugget of gold. You might get lucky this year!
They need a home to go
If you are a damper making expert, you can show your expertise on Saturday also. If you are a beginner, you can still try your hand at this traditional recipe and make damper in front of everyone. Flour, water and golden syrup will be provided by event organiser.
Another cooking competition will be My Camp Oven Rules. Try your hand at some traditional camp oven cooking. All ages and culinary styles are welcome. You must have your own camp oven and provide all ingredients that you need. From 12 noon on Saturday the 18th June, the camp fire will be ready for your culinary challenge. Judging will take place around 4.30pm. Don't forget, great prizes awaits you!
While you try your luck and enjoy the event, you can buy food and drinks or other knick knacks from the market stalls there. A jumping castle will keep your children busy for a while. Chung Wah Lion Dancers will also be there again this year to entertain you with their music and dancing.
There will also be a free music concert on at Heritage Park. This music concert will begin at 7pm and run until late. BYO chairs, blankets, drinks and food.
Pine Creek Goldrush Festival will continue on Sunday the 19th June. Indigenous Band Bonanza will continue the goldrush vibe with their music. This free music concert will begin at 11am at Heritage Park.
