Long week? I got the perfect remedy
The Piggery Café can be found on Sherbrooke Road, just before the Alfred Nicholas Memorial Gardens. It forms part of the Burnham Beeches Mansion, the luxury venue that is currently being given a facelift by Vue de Monde chef, restaurateur and director Shannon Bennett and his business partner Adam Garrisson.
The Café is a mix of rustic and modern design giving its customers a laid back feel. The tables outside face a 23-hectare estate and into the distance and you'll spot the 500-tree trufferie and extensive vegetable gardens. There is also an Emu enclosure where they hope to source the eggs for the café's dishes.
This time I was fortunate enough to be in the presence of Shannon himself, it was a special touch to the proceedings. The Piggery Café and Burnham Bakery are fully operational with many more attractions to follow when the mansion is complete.
The smell of freshly baked bread truly compliments the meal beforehand, and I gorged on the Blackmore Wagyu Beef burger, which now sits on my list Top 5 burgers in Melbourne, and I washed it down with a French drink called Orangina.
