The
Magic Mirrors Spiegeltent at Sydney Festival Garden is the perfect venue for the world premiere of
Pigalle . The international cast of nine includes a British burlesque performer "Kitty Bang Bang", aerialists from Mexico and Canada, Bangarra dancer
Waangenga Banco, performance artist
iOTA and the marvellous
Marcia Hines.
This high energy show is 70 minutes full of music, dancing, muscles and fun. You will be swept along with the boogie beat of fabulous tunes such as
Disco Fever, Knock On Wood, Bad Girl and
You Should Be Dancing. Disco balls, sequins, glitter, flares and platform shoes set the scene. The performers were all very talented and worked extremely well together even though each had their unique talents and skill sets.
Pigalle is very enjoyable with a great looking, talented cast performing acts of agility and strength. It is full of cheeky irreverent humour and light-hearted audience participation. The choreography, costumes and decor give the show a sexy nightclub vibe and there are a few surprising twists and tricks.
Under 18s need to be accompanied by a responsible adult as the Magic Mirrors Spiegeltent is a licensed venue but
Pigalle is not suitable for young children. The seating is general admission but for an extra ten dollars priority tickets will allow you to enter first in order to be in the midst of the action.
I could have listened to iOTA and Marcia Hines singing all night and did not want the party to end.
