Professional magician enchants hundreds of people

Following previous successful seasons at the Adelaide Fringe and outer Fringe seasons in previous years, and winning Best Magic at the weekly Adelaide Fringe awards in 2018, Canadian born magician Pierre Ulric returns with his brand new family-friendly show Enchantments, and to summarise the show in one word, it would be exactly that. Enchanting.
Enchantments is a fascinating and intimate show whereby Ulric demonstrates several exciting spells (illusions) of varying forms, and with the rise in the popularity of Harry Potter, this premise is most wise. It is, therefore, most appropriate that Ulric would be dressed in a costume reminiscent of that of a wizard, with long flowing coat, and funky, silly glasses, much like that of a mad scientist. Ulric proceeds to use props and special effects such as playing cards, sponge balls, rope, smoke, Rubik's cubes, apples, to demonstrate various simple spells in levitation, teleportation, time travel, to name only a few of many. Although this particular show is designed and aimed specifically at children, adults will be intrigued and entertained also, should they only unlock their imagination. Ulric always makes casting spells look easy, and is quite simply an expert at his craft. His use of a spellbook to introduce each "spell" was also most amusing, closing the dusty book each time with confidence and pride, to always remind the audience of the spells which he is casting.

Ulric is an accomplished performer, and his 20 years in the magic and entertainment industry definitely shows. He is a very engaging and delightful performer, exuding much confidence and energy throughout the duration of his hour-long show, and his love of entertaining is most evident. What is most special about Ulric though, is his ability to weave interesting stories into some of his illusions. One such illusion is that of the ancient cups and balls routine. Ulric presents this illusion in a beautifully unique way, weaving a fascinating story about the past present and future into the illusion, culminating in the best version of this trick which I have seen to date.
In short, Enchantments is a show which features many enchanting and entertaining spells, but the greatest spell which Ulric casts is that of being able to hold my attention for the whole hour, despite being in an uncomfortably hot pop-up performance venue, on the afternoon of a 35 degree day. It is this such spell which caused me to quickly forget the heat, and to be left simply mesmerised and that, is true enchantment.
