Australian's love pies. That's a fact. Nowhere are they more of a dietary staple, and nobody does them quite like us. That's why Piefection is the perfect place to go if you're a pie-lovin' Aussie like myself.
Piefection takes the current trend of 'gourmet-ifying' old favorites like cupcakes, macaroons, and burgers but fixes its eye firmly on the meat and pastry delight that is the pie.
Their menu contains all sorts of oddities one rarely associates with pies (butter chicken pie), as well as improvements on old favourites (lamb shank and rosemary, braised beef and garlic peppercorn). They also have a small but eclectic range of sausage rolls including a Wagyu beef and bacon selection and a selection of sweet pies that change everyday.
The one that caught my eye and eventually blew my tastebuds away was the house special, the JD BBQ Pork Rib pie. Like butter chicken it's hardly a flavour you expect in a pie but rules were meant to be broken.
The menu is small and more focused on quality of individual pies than quantity of selection. Also, each pie is available by itself or as a floater (with mushy peas and mash potato) or in a "floater combo".
While it's hardly a sit down, black tie affair, Piefection is the perfect place for a meal on the run, or for a fun snack between weekend adventures.
