Hidden on Montague Road in West End, opposite Aldi, is Pie Town, which is not your average bakery and fast food takeaway joint, but an institution to any pie lover and Pie Town devotee. Pie Town on the outside is hard to miss with its bright red building on Montague Road, indicating to passers-by to stop and explore what pies lurk behind the doors. For any pie enthusiast, this trendy corner shop is full of warm hearts, hearty pies, kind and efficient staff, while operating a modern, sustainable business.
After setting up shop here late 2019, Pie Town has become a hit with locals, as they have brought their sweet and savoury pies along to West End, added with an extra dash of pizazz to keep you content no matter your flavour. Their filthy-delicious pies are a must for any pie connoisseur, meat lover, vegan, vegetarian, sweet tooth or not. The usual suspects appear such as Pepper Steak Pie, Key Lime Pie, Pumpkin Pie and the Apple Pie make an appearance on the menu, alongside Sweet Potato and Falafel Pie, Earl Grey Pie, Cheeseburger Pie with pickles, Cherry Pie and Mushroom Bourguignon Pie. There are many other pies to try as you will find out, that are freshly handmade and baked on premises. We opted for the gluten and vegan free Ratatouille Pie and the Meatless Pie, followed by the decadent Bourbon Pecan Pie. The signature buttery pie crust is light and deliciously fresh that melts in your mouth, while the Meatless and Ratatouille Pie filling is flavoursome and generously served.
You'll find a strong focus on community, sustainable business practices and quality organic produce at Pie Town. Owner and head pie maker Susie, takes pride in sourcing local produce that comes directly from the farmers such as Echo Valley Farm for eggs, beef and pork products, Australian cultured butter from one of Australia's dairy farmers Pep Seya, along with Limes from Suncoast Limes.
Pie Town has it all with great food, a sustainable business with plenty of charm along with ample room for everyone to sit inside and outside (covered area) while devouring their pie. There is even room to bring your lovable dog along too. Yes, this new West End haunt is dog-friendly too. Did I mention they have a loyalty program called frequent pie program, where you can unashamedly eat your way through the pie menu!
