On my lunch break today I felt like something fresh, something 'salad-y,' something healthy. As I've previously stated, I work very close to one of the Pie Face stores in Brisbane city. Today, I decided to take advantage of that.
I went in and looked for what I might want to eat. One thing in particular stood out to me: the turkey baguette. Loaded with slices of roast turkey, stuffed with lettuce and topped with a garlic mayonnaise, this was definitely what I wanted.
To be honest, I can't recall exactly what I paid, as I was just keen to have it in my hands so that it could then be in my mouth, but I'm pretty sure it was around the $6.00 mark, which isn't too bad for a healthy baguette of its size and taste. And boy, did it taste good.
No part of the baguette over-powered another and the bun was fresh - not too soft but not too hard. The garlic mayonnaise was probably my favourite part, it really pulled the ingredients together, and I think I even detected some pepper in there. It was very satisfying, and I think I'll be having it for my lunch more often.
inspired by your recommendation I grabbed a baguette also - unfortunately mine was filled with much less filling than yours obviosuly was, it was bland and the bun was tough as boot leather. never again - I'll stick with sandwich shops that specialise in fresh rolls.
