Leaving Picton on the South Island of New Zealand, the ferry passes through the very picturesque sound before entering for the crossing to Wellington on the North Island.

Braving the misty rain, and the cold wind, while the sensible passengers were warm inside, I took a series of photos of the misty hills receding into the background. On one photo a bird with as much weather sense as myself, kindly flew past.

It is one of my favourite photos. Won't make the front page of a tourist brochure, but I like it.
