It was a day trip to Toowoomba Carnival of Flowers with friends that took me to Toowoomba and the group had booked for the Restaurant at Picnic Point. It is a wonderful place for a picnic, but there's also a restaurant and café with awesome views and great food.

Some of our group had pre-ordered meals but many of us joined the queue – despite it being a Monday, it was busy, as many folk of course were visiting the city to explore the Carnival of Flowers.

Our meals and drinks arrived at our table in very quick time – much faster than I had anticipated – so full marks to the restaurant for great service.

The weather was wonderful – blue skies with occasional clouds, even threatening a shower at one point, but it didn't, with bright sunshine for the most part – just a perfect day to explore the wonderful flowers in the parks and in the private homes!

Lingering over the meal was not an option as our bus was ready to take us on to more garden exploring. I chose the bruschetta with local heirloom tomatoes & feta, which was a good choice, however there is quite an extensive menu to choose from.

Visitors have the choice of the restaurant or the café below. The menus are available to see – complete with prices, on their website, and you can book a table if there is a group of visitors.

The venue is also popular for weddings and other events too.

Special menus are available during the Carnival and one appropriate item is The Wattle and the Violet Ice-cream Sundae.

The flowers around Toowoomba are certainly a "must see" – spectacular displays everywhere, so if you have missed it in 2015, put it in your diary for next year! Tip: Don't forget your camera!
