For a place named Picnic Point you'd be hoping for the perfect spot to set yourself up on a lovely weekend. Thankfully, the Maroochydore park, by the
Maroochy River , lives up to the name. Picnic Point is a fantastic stretch of public park, shaded by trees and populated with tables, chairs and plenty of shade to make any picnic a success.
Picnic Point is a beautiful place to go. You'll have your pick of spots to choose from along this gorgeous stretch of land. No tables available? No worries! Grab a spot under the tree instead. No matter how busy it gets here there always seems to be room for everyone. I went by on a weekend recently and no one seemed to be intruding on anyone else's space.
For an actual picnic you couldn't pick a better spot. Besides those lovely views you also have access to electric barbecues, tables (some undercover) and
toilets . It's great for the entire family or just a couple looking for some nice time together.
It's a lovely spot to go for a bike ride, a run or a walk. It's a lovely alternative to busy Bradman Ave on the other side of the block. It's a great route to add to your daily routine.
There were also plenty of benches along the river's edge - giving some great views of the foreshore on the other side and even
Mount Coolum in the background if the day is clear enough.
Being on the river this is also a great place to unload the kayaks and stand up paddleboards or even just a dip in the cool water. It's also a great fishing spot and those with boats will make good use of the boat ramp down the end of the esplanade. Kids looking for a playground will find some luck just down the esplanade at
Adolph Blanck Park , it's basically opposite the road from the beginning of .
is a lovely place to visit and it certainly does live up to its name.
